1.1 Apologies were received from the Chair, Delyth Jewell MS. The Committee agreed to elect Heledd Fychan MS as a temporary Chair in accordance with Standing Order 17.22.

 

1.2 The temporary Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee. The temporary Chair extended a special welcome to Sioned Williams MS as the Committee continues its joint inquiry with the Children, Young People, and Education Committee into Welsh in Education Strategic Plans (WESPs). Apologies were received from Buffy Williams MS.

2.1 The Committee heard evidence from representatives of Association of School and College Leaders; Undeb Cenedlaethol Athrawon Cymru (UCAC); and NASUWT.

3.1 The Committee heard evidence from representatives of Dyfodol i’r Iaith; Cymdeithas yr Iaith; Welsh Language Commissioner’s office; and Rhieni Dros Addysg Gymraeg (RHAG).

 

3.2 In accordance with Standing Order 17.24A, Heledd Fychan MS and Sioned Williams MS made declarations of relevant interests.

4.2 The Committee agreed to write to the Chair of the European Affairs Committee regarding its call for evidence for its inquiry into the future UK-EU relationship.

 

4.3 The Committee also agreed to write to the Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip regarding the development of a cultural strategy for Wales, specifically asking what role, if any, the Committee will have in the development of the strategy.
